We all know that auditioning for shows, bands, etc can be quiet nerve racking. And some people claim that they aren’t nervous when in fact they are. Confidence in key in auditioning but there are quite a few other details that can really help you possibly succeed with your auditions with these tips:
1. CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE, a judge, or anyone along that line will notice if you have this or not. You cannot go in there with your head looking down fidgeting your hands, moving your feet back and forth, you know the deal? lol. Walk in with good posture, smile (genuinely), and just be yourself. A lot of these people can read body language QUITE well. And also remember…as a singer, the stage should be your home! Keep practicing, keep auditioning, and try to get every opportunity to perform out in public, even if its front of people at home.
2. While auditioning with your song, please perform it like its your last day on earth, and MAKE quite a bit of contact with your judges eyes. This is VERY important, this is way to reel them in and make them connect to you.
3. Always, Always, Always articulate and speak clearly when a judge asks you questions and again, look them in the eye.
4. Clothing and appearance: Please dress to impress, but be yourself. Also, from my experience, and some research, wearing bright colors is in your favor (I’m not saying to dress like a parrot lol). But anyway – bright colors tend to make you stick out and you will be noticed more. Never wear all black, or black and white, or very dark colors.
5. SONG CHOICE – this is VERY crucial. You might be able to sing everything. But you must choose a song that is going to fit your voice and “wow” your judges.
So that’s it. Leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of the article. It would be a real shame if you didn’t.

express’s exchange for the intriguing advice
Hey mate, been enjoying your videos / tips a lot, commented on most of your youtube stuff, keep it coming! Im 16, and my voice started sounding not too good since of lately, and your helping me to stay on track! FREEDOM OF VOICE!
Thanks for the good advice! I am going to an audition in an hour.. Wish me luck!
Hi Eric,
Exactly what I feel everytime I have an audition, my body trembles but I tries hard to hide it. My mom, told me that she didn’t noticed that I was trembling when I sang during my contest.
We’re poor and we couldn’t afford to hire a good coach and I’m just watching all your videos in you tube to get some tips and apply it. Singing is my passion and I’ll try as best as I can to fulfill my dream of becoming a singing star someday.
Keep it up, you’re my angel, God bless!

hi Eric,
First of all i want to congratulate and thank you for your great work.It has helped me a lot.My voice does sound much better after practicing some of your exercises .You are an excelent teacher and a gifted singer. Now, i had a lot of trouble with singing with an audience, event in front of my relatives. The key to this problem is still practice.I started singing at karaoke,i was trembeling and all that stuf but when i noticed that everybody was impressed of my voice and came to me to congratulate me i didn’t want to leave the stage .Now i’m preparing to sing with a band ,i’ve come a long way but i keep doing those exercises, there is allways room for improovement.thanks again eric,i’m also poor and i couldn’t afford a teacher but when i will recover financialy i promise to buy your program study cause i doubt i’ll be able to find someone who explains and makes sense the way you do.
Keep up the good work
hello eric..
i really want to audition for the xfactor but i need to learn how to sing first. will i get as good as you sing after viewing and taking in all of what you said on youtube. if after about 2weeks and my voice dosent really change why is this ?
Hi Eric,
I really enjoy using your singing lessons online and the 2.0 program. You are very smart when it comes to singing properly. I appreciate the great things you are doing for up and coming artists and performers. I agree with your article above about auditioning. I have gone to hundreds of auditions, but I don’t know what songs really make people say, “she’s amazing”. I would really like to know what song will set it off for me. I know I have plenty of eye contact, and when I get on stage I am alive. However; the song choice is the most important, and the trickest (is that how you spell it?) aspect of the audition. Most of the songs I have auditioned with in the past were other peoples’ songs, but when I did my orginial songs sometimes that worked better for me. Should someone stick to other established songs that might be sung by 15 other auditioners, or should you be creative with an original or less popular song? Anyway, keep up your excellent work. Many blessings to you in your career and your personal life.
Be blessed,
Tanye’
